This music and poetry of nature is inspired by Idyllwild. With photography from Idyllwild by Lissa Evans, Kathy Harmon-Luber and Erin O’Neill, this music takes you on a journey through the forest and mountains and its many moods.

1 Sunrise Awakens the Forest

Before the first rays touch the tips of the trees
As the sun rises over the desert
Way down the mountain, way down below
The deer have filled themselves with acorns
In the darkness before dawn
Homer’s Rosy Fingers of Dawn
Slowly flow and fill the sky
Waking the birds and ferns and all living things
Welcoming me to today

2 Grotto Meditation

Across a graceful meadow
There is a grotto
With an enchanted stream
Washing over ancient boulders
The song of the rushing water
Fills me with peace and joy
I gorge myself in bliss
As the sun warms my soul

3 In the Shadows of the Forest

In the shade of the pine, oak and cedar
Where the mushrooms and moss grow
I feel the damp earth in its darkness
Is there a mountain lion watching me?
I will myself to feel the fear
And love the forest
I feel safe here
Even if there may be danger

4 Wind Whispers the Trees

It is a silent afternoon
I can only hear the tender
Sound of the wind
Touching the trees.
Every individual leaf
Sings its own song
I am inside a chorus
Of the hymn of nature

5 Timberline

My soul journeys
To where the air is clear
Above the timber line
To the home of the seer

Always waiting
For my spirit
To begin to hear

I hear you spirit
Your message so simple and clear

This is now
This is all
This is life
This is love!

6 Voice of the Moon

The Moon slowly slowly
Travels through the night
Sometimes I see her brightly
Sometimes she hides
Sometimes she smiles
Bringing me sleep
Until Sunrise comes again
